Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah denied he is weak against short balls, stating he has spent the last two years working on his batting.
He noted that sometimes batsmen mistime short deliveries, but that doesn’t mean they have a weakness against it.
“It’s not that I’m weak against short balls. In fact, in the death overs, bowlers rarely go short – that’s often the easiest delivery to put away. Sometimes you mistime it, sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t. I’ve spent the last two years working hard on my batting, and all my focus has been on improving myself,” the 30-year-old was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Khushdil recently played in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he scored 253 runs in 11 matches for the Karachi Kings, which included a top score of 60, at an average of 36.14 and a strike-rate of 156.17.
He also took seven wickets at an average of 34.85 and an economy rate of 9.03.
He then took part in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore and finished with five runs at an average of five and a strike-rate of 50.
He also had an impact with the ball, claiming two wickets at an average of 15.50 and an economy rate of 7.75.
The big-hitter from Bannu then toured Bangladesh with the men in green and accumulated 30 runs in two games at an average of 15 and a strike-rate of 73.17.
Bowling-wise, he went wicketless.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
They hold a 1-0 lead the T20I series 1-0 after winning the first match by 14 runs.
The 2nd T20I will take place on August 3 in Lauderhill.
