Revered India batsman Virat Kohli recalled how he got out when he tried to hit Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi for a six.
Kohli remembers the moment so vividly as he thought his spot in the India team was in danger soon after being recalled.
“I tried to hit Shahid Afridi for a six straight down the ground and got caught at at long-on,” the 36-year-old was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
It should be noted that India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since the men in green toured India for two T20Is and three ODIs from December 2012 to January 2013.
Since then, the two arch-rivals have only clashed at major cricket events like the ICC Cricket World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup.
Many of the Pakistan players recently took part in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by the Lahore Qalandars.
Following PSL 10, the men in green went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series in Lahore and triumphed 3-0.
They then toured Bangladesh for another three-match T20I series, but lost 2-1.
Pakistan are now touring the West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs.
