Interim red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood has made it abundantly clear that he never said Pakistan doesn’t have any spinners.
He noted that his comments were taken out of context and ultimately blown out of proportion.
The men in green have a few go-to spinners in Test cricket right now, including Noman Ali, Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed.
Going forward, it will be intriguing to see if Mahmood sticks with the trio or opts to select another spinner that has shown plenty of promise in domestic cricket.
“I never said Pakistan doesn’t have spinners,” he told PakPassion.
Many of the Pakistan players, including those in the Test team, recently played in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by the Lahore Qalandars.
After this, the men in green went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and won 3-0.
However, they didn’t have the same amount of success when they toured Bangladesh for three T20Is as they lost the series 2-1.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a limited overs tour of the West Indies, where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs from August 1 to 12.
