Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has been guiding young fast bowlers Ubaid Shah and Akif Javed as they are “young and inexperienced”.
Rizwan did this during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Multan Sultans.
Ubaid, who is the younger brother of fast bowler Naseem Shah, took 12 wickets in nine matches during the tournament at an average of 26.75 and an economy rate of 10.29.
Akif, meanwhile, recently got the chance to play international cricket and performed exceptionally well in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand as he claimed seven wickets at an average of 23.57.
In PSL 10, he finished with four wickets in three games at an average of 34.25 and an economy rate of 12.45.
“Our bowling attack includes many young and inexperienced players like Ubaid Shah and Akif Javed,” Rizwan was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
“I want to guide them during the game, understand what’s going on in their minds, and help them stay composed.”
Following PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Rizwan, Ubaid and Akif were all overlooked for selection.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
