Former Pakistan middle order batsman Faisal Iqbal has claimed that “serious provincial racism” exists in the country.

He noted cricketers from certain areas of the country do not get the opportunities they deserve, which may ultimately harm Pakistan’s chances of finding exceptional talents who could be the next big thing.

“There is serious provincial racism in Pakistan, where people from certain places do not get opportunities,” Faisal was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan have not lived up to expectations in international cricket lately as they were knocked out in the group stage of the 2025 Champions Trophy after going winless throughout their campaign.

They then travelled to New Zealand and were demolished 4-1 in the T20I series before being whitewashed 3-0 in the ODIs.

Afterwards, many of the national players featured in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which the Lahore Qalandars won.

Following the conclusion of PSL 10, the men in green faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and were finally able to turn their fortunes around as they secured a comprehensive 3-0 win.
