Pakistan superstar Babar Azam has admitted that he learned a lot from legendary South Africa batsman AB de Villiers.

Azam acknowledged that De Villiers is his idol and further said that meeting the 41-year-old was his “favourite moment” in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Lately, the 30-year-old has been performing better, indicating that his rough patch may soon come to an end.

During Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Azam made 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.

Afterwards, he captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

“Meeting my idol, AB de Villiers, was my favorite moment in the PSL. I learned a lot from him,” Azam was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Once PSL 10 ended, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not included in the team.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
