Pakistan batsman Hasan Nawaz has revealed that he thought he would be dropped after starting his international career with two ducks in a row.

Nawaz made his debut in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year and after getting dismissed for zero in his first two games, he bounced back in spectacular fashion by scoring Pakistan’s fastest T20I century.

The 22-year-old hammered 105 not out off 45 balls in the 3rd T20I against the Black Caps, which included 10 boundaries and seven sixes.

Ultimately, he ended the series with 106 runs in five games at an average of 26.50 and a strike-rate of 185.96.

“I thought I’d be dropped,” Nawaz was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

After the New Zealand tour, the Islamabad native lit up the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he was the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.

Following PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and Nawaz accumulated 121 runs, which included a top score of 51 not out, at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
