Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has revealed that he “received offers for league cricket”, but always prioritised domestic cricket.
Akmal is looking to return to the national team, but faces an uphill battle as he hasn’t played for his country since October 2019.
Additionally, the 34-year-old from Lahore last featured in domestic cricket in February 2024 when he represented the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.
Even though cricketers receive lucrative offers from T20 competitions around the world, Akmal insisted that he refused to be swayed.
“When I used to play for Pakistan, I also received offers for league cricket, but I preferred domestic cricket more,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Akmal isn’t involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was recently postponed.
PSL 10 is expected to get underway once again on May 17 and finish on May 25.
