Pakistan batsman Umar Amin has stated that he “wouldn’t even be playing domestic cricket right now” if he didn’t believe he had a chance of making an international comeback.
The 35-year-old last played international cricket in January 2018 and has been trying to earn a recall ever since.
Having scored plenty of runs over the last few years, the Rawalpindi native has vowed not to give up until he achieves his goal of returning to the national team.
“If I didn’t believe in this, I wouldn’t even be playing domestic cricket right now. The goal has always been to make a comeback and play for Pakistan,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Amin was not picked for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and Pakistan’s limited overs tour of New Zealand.
During their tour of New Zealand, the men in green failed to impress as they lost the T20I series 4-1 and the ODIs 3-0.
Many of the national players are now involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but Amin was overlooked as he wasn’t selected by any team for the tournament.
PSL 10 began on April 11 and will finish on May 18.
