Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has lauded opening batsman Saim Ayub, calling him a “stylish batsman” and an “asset to Pakistan cricket”.
Ayub had been in red-hot form until an ankle injury sidelined him during the tour of South Africa.
Prior to his injury, the 22-year-old scored three ODI centuries and a career-best 98 not out in T20Is – all of which came during Pakistan’s tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Ayub was subsequently sidelined for Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies, the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and the white-ball tour of New Zealand.
Despite suffering a major setback at a time when he was dominating, Naqvi praised Ayub for his stellar performances.
“Saim Ayub is a stylish batsman and an asset to Pakistan cricket,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Ayub has made a full recovery and returned to action in the ongoing 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is playing for the Peshawar Zalmi.
In his first two games, the Karachi native made scores of 50 and 6 against the Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United respectively.
PSL 10 started on April 11 and will conclude on May 18.
