Haseebullah Khan over Salman Ali Agha in T20Is, former Pakistan captain says

Rashid Latif said Pakistan should pick Haseebullah Khan over Salman Ali Agha in T20Is

Rashid Latif: “Salman Ali Agha can play T20s, but when players aren’t available, he can be considered. The position he plays, there is already someone like Haseeb playing in that spot, so there’s no room for him there”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif believes Haseebullah Khan should be picked over limited overs vice-captain Salman Ali Agha in T20Is.

Haseebullah is considered to be one of Pakistan’s brightest young prospects, while Salman has established himself as a reliable middle order batsman.

To date, Haseebullah has featured in three T20Is and scored 36 runs at an average of 12.

As for Salman, he has made 50 runs in six T20Is at an average of 10.

Latif noted that there Salman has a future in T20Is, but he should only be picked when other players are unavailable.

“Salman Ali Agha can play T20s, but when players aren’t available, he can be considered. The position he plays, there is already someone like Haseeb playing in that spot, so there’s no room for him there,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are currently involved in an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and Salman has made scores of 40 and a career-best 134 against New Zealand and South Africa respectively.

Once the tri-series concludes, the men in green will feature in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
