Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has called Pakistan big-hitting batsman Fakhar Zaman a game-changer and said he plays similarly to Australia powerhouse Travis Head.

Zaman made his international comeback in the ongoing ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa and put on a show in Pakistan’s opening game against New Zealand as he smashed 84 runs off 69 balls, which included seven boundaries and four sixes.

Prior to this, the 34-year-old hadn’t played international cricket since the 2024 T20 World Cup, meaning he missed Pakistan’s tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, along with their two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan.

Having returned with a bang, Harbhajan admitted that the Mardan native is “undoubtedly a brilliant player”.

“Fakhar Zaman is a very good and quality player. He plays in a style similar to someone like Travis Head. Once he gets going, he can turn the game in his team’s favour. He’s undoubtedly a brilliant player,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Once the ODI tri-series concludes, Zaman and the rest of the Pakistan team will take part in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.
