Up-and-coming Pakistan fast bowler Shahid Aziz has revealed that left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir is his role model.
Aziz noted that he started looking up to Amir, who was once considered a prodigy, when he began playing cricket.
The 21-year-old’s revelation comes after he was drafted by the Multan Sultans for the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), known as PSL 10.
“I think role models change over time. When I started playing cricket, Mohammad Amir, Pakistan’s fast bowler, was someone I looked up to. I saw his bowling, and after starting my professional cricket career, I felt like he became my role model,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently toured South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before bouncing back to claim a 3-0 victory in the ODIs.
In the two-Test series that followed, they were whitewashed 2-0.
The men in green then returned home and faced the West Indies in a two-Test series in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
Next up for Pakistan will be an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
After this, they will feature in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
