Veteran batsman Ahmed Shehzad has insisted that he doesn’t want to play in the 2025 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shehzad noted that he had made his stance clear on this earlier on, even though his name was listed in the draft for PSL 10.
He noted that this was done “purely for false, cheap publicity and to generate pre-hype”.
“I am not available for PSL 10, and I don’t want to play in it. They have included my name in the draft purely for false, cheap publicity and to generate pre-hype,” the 33-year-old was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Shehzad hasn’t played any cricket since the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament in April to May 2024.
In that competition, he amassed 187 runs in six matches for the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), which included two fifties, at an average of 31.16.
Shehzad also hasn’t played international cricket since October 2019, meaning he wasn’t selected for Pakistan’s tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The men in green’s most recent assignment was a two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
