Pakistan pace bowler Ihsanullah has revealed that he cannot play red-ball cricket for the next three years as doctors have prohibited it.
Ihsanullah is recovering from an elbow injury and is currently working hard to regain full fitness.
Despite making a lot of progress, the 22-year-old expressed his disappointment as not being able to play first-class cricket or Test cricket for a long time.
On a more positive note, he confirmed he can play T20 cricket now, but has to wait for another year before resuming his 50-over career.
“For the next three years, I cannot play red-ball cricket, neither for Pakistan nor for domestic teams. The doctors prohibited it and PCB knows it. My shoulder has to be very strong for red-ball cricket. The doctor in England said that I can play T20 now and 50-over cricket after a year,” he told Public News as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were beaten 2-0 before turning their fortunes around with a 2-1 win over England in a three-match Test series.
They then faced Australia in a limited overs series and won the ODI leg 2-1, which was their first ODI series win in the country since 2002.
As for the three-match T20I series, Pakistan were comprehensively beaten 3-0.
The men in green will now head to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
