Pakistan limited overs captain Mohammad Rizwan confirmed that he is part of a group in the national team, which includes all the players.
Rizwan’s clarification comes after speculation had been rife about small cadres being built within the team.
Having taken over the white-ball captaincy, the 32-year-old made it clear that everyone is united as he treats them all with respect and sees everyone as captains who can help him make decisions and win games for Pakistan.
“Yes, I am part of a group: the group of the whole Pakistan team, alhamdulillah. For me, as a captain, all 15 players of Pakistan are captains,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rizwan recently featured in Pakistan’s three-Test series against England and amassed 99 runs at an average of 19.80.
He then led the men in green during their white-ball tour of Australia and scored 74 runs in three ODIs at an average of 74.
Pakistan won the ODI leg 2-1, which earned them their first ODI series victory in Australia since 2002.
Things were much different in the T20I series, however, as Pakistan were whitewashed 3-0, with Rizwan mustering 16 runs in two games at an average of eight.
Pakistan will now travel to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
