Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan said he has always done well whenever he is given the chance to open the batting.

Farhan is currently looking to earn a recall to the national team by putting up strong performances in domestic cricket.

The 28-year-old played in the middle order when he last represented Pakistan in January 2024, even though that is not normally where he bats.

Despite being dropped after only two T20Is against New Zealand, the Charsadda native is eager for another chance to play international cricket and is ready to do whatever it takes.

Farhan recently featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.

In the four games he played for the Dolphins, he scored 117 runs, which included a top score of 52, at an average of 29.25.

He is now involved in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) competition and made 12 runs in his first game for Pakistan TV against Oil & Gas Development Company Limited.

Farhan acknowledged the importance of these tournaments and admitted that performing well in one of them won’t be enough to get him back into the Pakistan team. Instead, he has to score runs consistently in order to get back on the selectors’ radar.

“My goal is always to be the top scorer in every tournament. One tournament alone isn’t enough for selection consideration. There’s a lot of cricket to be played in the next six months, and all players’ performances should be taken into account,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

“I always let my bat do the talking. Whenever I’ve been given the chance at the top [of the] order, I’ve performed well, and I hope to continue doing so.”

The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and lost 2-0.

They are now taking on England in a three-match Test series, which started on October 7 in Multan.
