Former England captain Michael Vaughan said white-ball captain Babar Azam “has been fantastic for Pakistan” over the years.
Azam has been his country’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats and played many match-winning knocks while captain as well.
Even though his batting has been the subject of much scrutiny over the past couple of months, Vaughan insisted that there is no denying the impact the 29-year-old has had.
“He has been fantastic for Pakistan and the world game,” he told Cricbuzz as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and amassed 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green began their campaign with losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, Pakistan were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
