Legendary batsman Younis Khan wants to see India and Pakistan playing bilateral series regularly and urged the governments of both countries to “sit together and resolve issues”.

His comments came ahead of India and Pakistan’s match in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which the men in blue won by six runs.

The two sides have not played a bilateral series since they faced each other in two T20Is and three ODIs in India from December 2012 to January 2013.

Since then, the two arch-rivals have only faced each other at major cricket events like the World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup.

“India and Pakistan should play bilateral series regularly. Indian and Pakistani players want to play against each other, fans want to see them in action. Both governments and boards should sit together and resolve issues,” Younis, who is the only Pakistan batsman to have scored 10,000 Test runs, was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Recently, the Pakistan team drew 2-2 with New Zealand in a five-match T20I series before going on to beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series.

After that, they played four T20Is against England and were beaten 2-0.

Currently, Pakistan find themselves on the verge of being eliminated from the T20 World Cup after their losses to the United States of America and India.

The men in green will be targeting a massive win when they go up against Canada in New York on June 11.
