Iconic Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi has praised up-and-coming pace bowler Abbas Afridi, saying he has “a lot of skill” and possesses a “good slower ball”.
Abbas has been in good form for the men in green and in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, he took five wickets in three games at an average of 14.20 and an economy rate of 8.87.
He then played three T20Is against Ireland and finished with six wickets at an average of 18.66 and an economy rate of 9.46.
Shahid noted that even though Abbas may not play every game, it shows the quality of the seamers Pakistan is producing.
“Even the bowlers sitting on the bench like Abbas (Afridi)… [have] a lot of skill with a good slower ball,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan are now facing England in a four-match T20I series and find themselves 1-0 down heading into the final game on May 30.
After this, they will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
