Former Pakistan seamer Sarfraz Nawaz has taken a shot at mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, saying his confidence falls when bowling to big-hitting batsmen.
Abrar burst onto the international scene in Test cricket, but has started being used in T20Is lately.
However, Nawaz is worried about the 25-year-old’s lack of experience, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“Abrar though has little international experience and exposure to stay confident against hard-hitting batsmen,” he was quoted as saying by The News, according to Geo Super.
Abrar made his T20I debut in Pakistan’s five-match series against New Zealand and took two wickets in three games at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 5.75.
Despite faring well, he didn’t feature in the three-match T20I series against Ireland, which the men in green won 2-1.
Pakistan are now playing four T20Is against England, with the series tied at 0-0 after the first match was abandoned due to persistent rain.
After the England series series, they will participate in the T20 World Cup, which will be played in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
