
Ravi Bopara: “His batting is really coming on and he’s becoming more and more powerful and confident”

Karachi Kings assistant coach Ravi Bopara acknowledged up-and-coming Pakistan batsman Irfan Khan is “becoming more and more powerful.”
His comments come after Irfan had a strong showing in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he accumulated 171 runs in nine matches at an average of 42.75 and a strike-rate of 140.16.
Aside from his power, Bopara pointed out that he has seen the 21-year-old from Mianwali exuding more confidence as well.
“His batting is really coming on and he’s becoming more and more powerful and confident,” the former England all-rounder was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Irfan’s success in PSL 9 further boosts the strong start he has made to his professional career as he has been a dominant force in first-class cricket as well, having amassed 800 runs in 13 matches, which includes a century and five fifties, at an average of 57.14.
The talented youngster made his international debut in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April and amassed 48 runs in three matches.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.
After that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
