Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has shown himself to be the ultimate team player, saying he is ready to “leave my wicketkeeping” and bowl if necessary.

Rizwan has cemented his spot in Pakistan’s limited overs squads and seems to be regaining his position as the first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman in Tests as well after losing it to Sarfaraz Ahmed for a short period of time.

The 31-year-old has always been a selfless individual as he always puts Pakistan and the national team’s needs ahead of his own.

“I even said that if I am needed for bowling, I am ready for that too, I can even leave my wicketkeeping,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

Rizwan was recently in action in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he captained the Multan Sultans.

The Peshawar-born batsman finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 407 runs in 12 games, which included four fifties, at an average of 33.91 and a strike-rate of 122.22.

The Sultans managed to reach the final for the fourth year in a row, but failed to lift the trophy as they lost to Islamabad United by two wickets.

Rizwan is now involved in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and has made 67 runs in three matches.

Pakistan trail 2-1 going into the fifth T20I, which will be played in Lahore on April 27.
