Pakistan selection committee member Wahab Riaz said Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir and spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim “possess undeniable match-winning capabilities.”
Amir and Imad are set to make their comebacks after both of them reversed their decisions to retire from international cricket.
Amir played for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and took 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 28.60 and an economy rate of 8.41.
As for Imad, he represented Islamabad United, who won PSL 9, and claimed 12 wickets in 12 games at an average of 20.91 and an economy rate of 6.60.
He also had an impact with the bat, scoring 126 runs, which included a top score of 59 not out, at an average of 21 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
Having seen what they did in PSL 9, Wahab has high hopes for them to perform well in the T20I series against New Zealand.
“Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team’s objectives,” he was quoted as saying in a press release from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to 27.
