Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan said he never doubted the abilities of Pakistan all-rounders Imad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf during the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Since he constantly had faith in them, he continued backing them as he knew they would eventually pay dividends.

Imad, who recently reversed his decision to retire from international cricket, featured in 12 matches and took 12 wickets at an average of 20.91 and an economy rate of 6.60.

He also scored 126 runs, which included a top score of 59 not out, at an average of 21 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

Faheem, meanwhile, claimed six wickets in 12 games at an average of 46 and an economy rate of 9.85.

Batting-wise, he made 100 runs at an average of 16.66 and a strike-rate of 129.87.

“We kept backing Faheem and Maddy Bhai (Imad Wasim) because we never doubted their ability, and we knew that they would pay us off with their ability and experience,” Shadab was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The 25-year-old, who captained Islamabad to the title, led by example with both the bat and ball, scoring 305 runs in 12 matches, which included three fifties, at an average of 30.50 and a strike-rate of 142.52.

He also snapped up 14 wickets at an average of 26.85 and an economy rate of 8.54.
