Iconic West Indies batsman Sir Viv Richards has lavished praise on Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir, but expressed uncertainty if he is as fast as pace sensation Naseem Shah.
Naseem is capable of bowling close to 150 kph, but instead of comparing Amir’s speed with the 21-year-old’s, Richards is happy that the former prodigy is representing the Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Richards noted that Amir’s experience will come in handy throughout PSL 9, especially since he has been featuring in T20 leagues all over the world since retiring from international cricket in December 2020.
“I don’t know if Amir will have pace similar to Naseem Shah but we are happy that an experienced player is part of the side,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
So far in PSL 9, Amir has taken four wickets in four matches at an average of 34.50 and an economy rate of 8.62.
