Iconic Pakistan power-hitter Shahid Afridi believes if former team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez was a good fit, he should have been given a three-year contract.

Instead, Hafeez saw his stint come to an end after Pakistan’s tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The men in green were whitewashed 3-0 in their Test series against Australia and then lost 4-1 in their T20I series against the Black Caps.

Afridi noted that it was unfair to judge Hafeez so soon and reiterated that he should have been given more time to make his presence felt.

He added that Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood and T20I skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi should also get three years to prove themselves.

“If you think Mohammad Hafeez is good then don’t just judge him on one series give him proper time and the same should apply to the captain as well he should be there for three years,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Many of Pakistan’s players are now taking part in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which started on February 17.
