Him over Virat Kohli, Imad Wasim calls 29-year-old batsman the pride of Pakistan

Imad Wasim prefers Pakistan batsman Babar Azam over India's Virat Kohli

Imad Wasim: “I would go Babar Azam. He’s our nation’s pride. We can criticise him, we can say things about him in a right way that he becomes [an] amazing player. But, he has served Pakistan with dignity and pride for a long time. He’s our pride”

Pakistan spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim said he would put Babar Azam ahead of India batting superstar Virat Kohli.

Kohli and Azam have constantly been compared to each other, with many former and current cricketers being asked which one they think is better.

In this case, Imad opted for Azam, calling him the pride of Pakistan.

“I would go Babar Azam. He’s our nation’s pride. We can criticise him, we can say things about him in a right way that he becomes [an] amazing player. But, he has served Pakistan with dignity and pride for a long time. He’s our pride,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam recently represented Pakistan in their three-match Test series against Australia and mustered 126 runs at an average of 21.

He then proceeded to make 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

The 29-year-old is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has made scores of 68, 72 and 31 in his first three matches against the Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans respectively.
