Pakistan spinner Usama Mir has lashed out at his critics, questioning why they “abuse” him after he fails to perform in a few matches.
Mir has become one of Pakistan’s regular spinners in limited overs cricket, but hasn’t done as well as expected over the past few months.
Recently, he featured in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took two wickets in three games at an average of 55.50 and an economy rate of 9.25.
“People talk like this, they even abuse me, so I think they forget everything, and whoever performs well, in a second, you will make them Don Bradman, you will make them Viv Richards, and for one bad performance, you will even call them [parchi],” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
“I don’t know which words will be used, but I think you should support [us] because we are playing for your country, not for any other country. If there is something, you should support us in every situation. In happiness, every person will be with us and if we are struggling, no one will stand with us in difficult times, then what is the need for this thing.”
The 28-year-old from Sialkot is now playing for the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has claimed four wickets in three matches.
