Australia spinner Nathan Lyon said Pakistan batsman Babar Azam is a “class player” as he excels against “all types of bowling.”
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats for the last couple of years and has broken multiple records too.
Considering that he doesn’t have a weakness against any particular style of bowling, Lyon noted that this is what makes the 29-year-old so dangerous.
“He’s a class player. But think he’s a class player against all types of bowling,” he told ESPNcricinfo as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam was recently involved in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and mustered 126 runs at an average of 21.
He then proceeded to make 213 runs in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142.
Azam will now captain the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which starts on February 17.
