Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah has said that left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi will play a key role during the upcoming Test series against England.
Afridi has become the spearhead of Pakistan’s pace attack and will be looking to maintain the red-hot form he was in prior to international cricket being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to Afridi, Yasir picked fast bowler Mohammad Abbas as another crucial player since he has previously played county cricket in England.
“I am hopeful for a good showing in the series against England. The weather and conditions will help Pakistan,” Yasir was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan. “Calling our players inexperienced is not completely true. Our young bowlers have been performing really well.
“Mohammad Abbas has experience playing county cricket. There are a lot of expectations from Shaheen Shah [Afridi]. We will get advantage because of the swing on offer in England.”
Pakistan are scheduled to play three Tests and three T20 Internationals against England, with the first Test starting on August 5 and the T20 series beginning on August 28.
