West Indies opener Lendl Simmons struck a game-winning 67 not out to lead his side to an eight-wicket win over India in the second Twenty20 International in Thiruvananthapuram.

Being put in to bat first, India got off to a poor start as Lokesh Rahul was caught by Shimron Hetmyer at deep square leg off the bowling of Khary Pierre for 11.

Rohit Sharma only made 15 runs before he was clean bowled by Jason Holder.

Shivam Dube made his presence felt with the bat as he smashed a 30-ball 54, which included three boundaries and four sixes, before being dismissed by Hayden Walsh.

However, once he was gone, India began losing wickets at regular intervals.

But, Rishabh Pant helped his side finish on 170/7 with his unbeaten 33, which came off 22 balls.

Walsh and Kesrick Williams picked up two wickets apiece, while Pierre, Holder and Sheldon Cottrell chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 171 to win, the West Indies got off to a brilliant start as Simmons and Evin Lewis amassed a 73-run partnership before Lewis was stumped by Pant off the bowling of Washington Sundar for a 35-ball 40, which included three boundaries and three sixes.

Hetmyer scored a quickfire 23 before he was sent packing by Jadeja.

Simmons and Nicholas Pooran finished things off with a 61-run partnership, during which Simmons raced past his fifty.

Simmons finished on 67, which came off 45 balls and included four boundaries and four sixes, while Pooran remained undefeated on 38, which came off 18 deliveries and included four boundaries and two sixes.

Sundar and Jadeja claimed one wicket each.

Simmons was named Man of the Match.
