Pakistan left-arm seamer Junaid Khan firmly believes that fellow left-armer Mohammad Amir had a huge mistake in retiring from Test cricket at the age of 27.

Amir shocked the cricketing world when he announced that he would be stepping away from the longest format in order to focus on limited overs cricket.

Junaid feels that Amir could have continued playing Test cricket for five more years and would have been extremely handy for the national team in pace-friendly conditions.

With that in mind, Junaid urged Amir to reconsider his decision.

“Mohammad Amir announced [his] retirement at an early age of 27,” he told The Nation. “I feel he still had five more years to play for Pakistan.

“He should reconsider his decision and help Pakistan, which badly needs experienced campaigners. Same applies to Wahab Riaz as he is bowling in full rhythm and still capable of getting crucial wickets.”

Younis is also a great candidate for batting coach, but then you have people like Zaheer Abbas and Javed Miandad who can fill that role as well. Apparently, Misbah is among the favourites to be named head coach.
