Australia opener David Warner has called Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir a “world-class bowler”.

Warner’s praise for Amir comes after the 27-year-old took his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs against Australia in the World Cup on Wednesday.

Amir, who finished with figures of 5-30 off his 10 overs, dismissed Australia captain Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc.

However, his efforts with the ball went in vain as Pakistan lost the match by 41 runs.

“Amir’s a world-class bowler. When he’s swinging it, it’s very difficult to try to get on top of him. Then when it’s seaming and swinging, it’s even harder,” Warner was quoted as saying by Saj Sadiq on Twitter.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against arch-rivals India in Manchester on Sunday.
