Legendary Pakistan batsman Zaheer Abbas believes that the national team are among his picks to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Abbas’ comments come after Pakistan beat England by 14 runs in their World Cup clash in Nottingham on Monday.

Pakistan’s victory over England not only helped them bounce back from their seven-wicket loss to the West Indies, but it also snapped their 11-game losing streak in ODIs.

In addition to Pakistan, Abbas thinks India, England, Australia, and New Zealand are also in with a chance of making it to the semi-finals.

“I think five teams have a relatively strong chance of coming into the semi-finals. I think the two teams from the subcontinent India and Pakistan along with England, Australia, and New Zealand are the strongest contenders so far,” Abbas was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against Sri Lanka in Bristol on Friday.
