Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir believes that the national team are capable of winning the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales on May 30.

Pakistan have struggled in ODIs this year as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa before being whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.

They have also lost their ongoing five-match ODI series against England as they trail 3-0 going into the final match.

Despite this, Pakistan can take confidence from the fact that they won the Champions Trophy in England in 2017.

“The Pakistan team should forget their poor performance in the previous series against Australia and enter the tournament with renewed confidence, as the entire country is backing them to do well,” Qadir was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk.

After the ongoing five-match ODI series against England, Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
