Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will miss the one-off Twenty20 International and first two ODIs against England as he is still recovering from undergoing surgery on his thumb.
Hafeez had a second operation done on his fractured thumb in March, but managed to prove his fitness and get into the World Cup squad.
According to Geo News, Hafeez will miss the Twenty20 International in Cardiff on Sunday, along with the first two ODIs, which will be held at The Oval and Southampton on May 8 and 11 respectively.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director of Media Samiul Hasan Burney said that Hafeez could be fit for the third ODI, which will be held in Bristol on May 14.
While Hafeez will miss part of the limited overs series against England, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur last month said that he could feature in the five-match ODI series at some point.
“Hafeez is ahead of where we want him and that’s great news. He has been doing a lot of work so don’t rule out Hafeez in the one-day series,” Arthur had said.
After the limited overs series against England, which will conclude on May 19, Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
