England limited overs captain Eoin Morgan has admitted that Pakistan are “probably second or third favourites” to win the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales next month.

Morgan noted that he sees Pakistan as a legitimate threat in the tournament, especially as they won the Champions Trophy in England in 2017.

Morgan’s comments not only come ahead of the World Cup, but also prior to England’s limited overs series against Pakistan, which will begin with a one-off Twenty20 International on May 5.

The two nations will then play a five-match ODI series, which will take place between May 8 and 19.

“Pakistan are probably second or third favourites for the tournament,” Morgan was quoted as saying by the Metro. “They hold the Champions Trophy – playing extremely well to win that, in England – so it’s a series we’re all looking forward to.”
