Quetta Gladiators pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain has revealed that his idol growing up was legendary Pakistan seamer Waqar Younis.

Hasnain has excelled in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has snapped up seven wickets in five games at an average of 21.85.

With the 18-year-old capable of bowling 150km/h on a consistent basis, he has been included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates, which gets underway on March 22.

Explaining why he looked up to Waqar, Hasnain told the PSL’s website: “I grew up with an aim to become a fast bowler and Waqar was my role model.”

Hasnain is also thrilled that he is on the verge of accomplishing his dream of playing international cricket for Pakistan.

“I am thrilled that my first PSL has brought me so much reward. It was my childhood dream to play for Pakistan and it’s near to fulfillment,” he said.
