Hobart Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade smashed a superb 88, but it was not enough to lead his side to victory as Jake Weatherald’s magnificent 82 saw the Adelaide Strikers triumph by seven wickets.
Being put in to bat first, the Hurricanes got off to an excellent start as Wade and D’Arcy Short amassed a 59-run partnership before Short was caught by Strikers skipper Colin Ingram at cover off the bowling of Ben Laughlin for 26.
Wade and Caleb Jewell kept the runs flowing with a 55-run partnership before Jewell was stumped by Alex Carey off the bowling of Rashid Khan for 17.
Ben McDermott fell shortly after for 18, while Wade went on to score a 54-ball 88, which included eight boundaries and two sixes, before he was trapped lbw off the bowling of Laughlin.
Add it to the resume, @MatthewWade13 😉

Once Wade was gone, the Hurricanes collapsed as they went from 152/4 to finishing on 169/7.
Laughlin was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Rashid and Michael Neser chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Chasing 170 to win, the Strikers made a glorious start to their innings as Weatherald and Carey amassed a 116-run partnership, during which both batsmen surpassed their half-centuries, before Carey was caught and bowled by Simon Milenko for 54, which came off 35 balls and included seven boundaries and a six.

Weatherald proceeded to make a 42-ball 82, which included 11 boundaries and two sixes, before he was caught by Short at deep midwicket off the bowling of Jofra Archer.
Even though Jake Lehmann fell soon after, Jonathan Wells and Ingram mopped up the remaining runs to lead the Strikers to victory with 13 balls to spare.
Milenko, Archer and Jarrod Freeman claimed one wicket each.
Weatherald was named Man of the Match.
