Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq thanked all his critics after he struck a superb 101 in the third ODI against South Africa in Centurion.

Imam has constantly been criticised despite being one of Pakistan’s most consistent performers as of late.

The main reason Imam has been targeted is the fact that he is the nephew of chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

However, while his fifth ODI hundred wasn’t enough to lead Pakistan to victory in the third ODI, it did take his average in the format to 63.18.

“I really want to thank those journalists who always criticized me by questioning my selection as I’m [the] nephew of the chief selector. The celebration was a [message] for them who used to talk [behind] my back,” Imam said.

Taking to his own Twitter account, Imam added: “Thank you everyone I really want to thank all those people who criticise and hate me so much because that [keeps] me going so thank you once again for showing so much hate.”
