Raymon Reifer took a five-wicket haul and Shai Hope smashed a superb 88 as the Barbados Tridents cruised past the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 30 runs.

Choosing to bowl first, the Amazon Warriors got an early breakthrough as Tridents opener Martin Guptill was dismissed by Sohail Tanvir for a duck on the third ball of the match.

Dwayne Smith, who opened the batting with Guptill, fell in the next over as he was dismissed by Chris Green for six runs.

Hope and former Australia captain Steve Smith stabilised the innings with a 105-run partnership, during which Hope brought up his half-century, before Smith was trapped lbw off the bowling of Imran Tahir for 41.

Hope went on to make 88 off 45 balls, which included six boundaries and six sixes, before he was caught by Shimron Hetmyer at long-off off the bowling of Keemo Paul.

With Hope gone, Nicholas Pooran took over towards the end of the inning as he hammered an unbeaten 45 off 27 balls, which included two boundaries and three sixes, to help the Tridents finish on 185/4.

Tanvir, Green, Tahir and Paul picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 186 to win, the Amazon Warriors were dealt a big blow on the 12th ball of their innings as opener Chadwick Walton was trapped lbw off the bowling of Tridents captain Jason Holder for six runs.

Luke Ronchi scored 10 runs before falling to Reifer, who proceeded to take out Hetmyer the very next ball.

Amazon Warriors captain Shoaib Malik and Sherfane Rutherford steadied things with an 84-run partnership before Malik was clean bowled by Ashley Nurse for 38.

Reifer then returned to remove Green, Jason Mohammed and Rutherford in the same over. Rutherford ended up making 48 off 46 balls, which included four boundaries and two sixes.

With Wahab Riaz cleaning up Tanvir in the final over, the Amazon Warriors fell well short of their target as they finished on 155/8.

Reifer was the most successful bowler with five wickets, while Holder, Nurse and Wahab claimed one wicket each.

Reifer was named Man of the Match.
