Umar Akmal has not played international cricket since January 2017

Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal is working on his fitness in an attempt to resurrect his international career.

Akmal last played for Pakistan January 2017, and is well aware that fitness is one of the key categories that determines whether a player gets selected in the national team.

With that in mind, Akmal is putting in the hard yards in the gym, and is also determined to excel on the domestic circuit.

Not only will Akmal find it difficult to regain his spot in the national team due to the emergence of young talents, but he has also been in hot water on numerous occasions.

Most recently, he claimed he was offered $200,000 to leave two balls alone during Pakistan’s World Cup match against India in 2015.
