Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad has called on India and Pakistan to set their differences aside and play bilateral series on a regular basis.

Miandad believes that politics have to stop muddying the waters when it comes to both sides facing each other.

He added that India playing Pakistan is bigger than the Ashes, given the rivalry between the two nations. In addition, Miandad pointed out that both teams have die-hard fans.

“It is time the politicians stop politicising the matter,” he was quoted as saying by Geo News. “We [Pakistan and India] can rule the world of cricket if we work and play together.”

India and Pakistan last played a series in December 2012, but nowadays, the two countries only go up against each other at ICC events and the Asia Cup.
