Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza ripped through the West Indies’ batting line-up with a five-wicket haul, but wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich and captain Jason Holder came to the rescue with an unbeaten 144-run partnership that actually handed the West Indies a 48-run lead.

Starting off the day on 78/1, Kieran Powell and Devendra Bishoo converted their two-run partnership into a 55-run stand before Bishoo was caught and bowled by Raza for 23.

Kyle Hope failed to have an impact with the bat as he was given out lbw off the bowling of Raza for one run.

Hope opted to go for a review, but the decision remained unchanged as replays showed that the ball was pitching in line and going on to cannon into middle stump.

Powell went on to score 90 off 230 balls, which included seven boundaries, before he was brilliantly caught by Craig Ervine off the bowling of Chris Mpofu.

Roston Chase and Shai Hope stabilised the innings with a 56-run partnership before Chase was trapped lbw off the bowling of Raza for 32.

Raza then proceeded to remove Jermaine Blackwood for five runs and Hope for 40 to leave the West Indies at 230/7.

However, that was to be Zimbabwe’s last taste of success for the remainder of the day as Dowrich and Holder put together an unbeaten 144-run partnership, during which both batsmen surpassed their fifties, before stumps was called.

Dowrich finished on 75 off 153 balls, which included nine boundaries, while Holder remained undefeated on 71 off 132 deliveries, which included six boundaries and a six.

Raza was the pick of the bowlers with five wickets, while Mpofu and Zimbabwe skipper Graeme Cremer chipped in with one wicket apiece.

The West Indies ended day three on 374/7 and will continue batting on Wednesday at 09:30 local time or 07:30 GMT.
