Trinbago Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin hammered a game-winning 59 not out to not only lead his side past the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets, but also into the knockout stage of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Opting to bowl first, the Knight Riders got the golden wicket of Patriots captain Chris Gayle early on as he was dismissed by Sunil Narine for four runs.

Just as the Patriots were beginning to recover from the loss of Gayle, Mohammad Hafeez was run out by Javon Scantlebury-Searles for 13.

Brandon King only made nine runs before becoming Narine’s second victim, while opening batsman Shamarh Brooks, who had survived up to this point, struck a 32-ball 37 before being clean bowled by Shadab Khan.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, but Jonathan Carter’s quickfire 31 was crucial in helping the Patriots finish on 158/7 off their 20 overs.

Narine was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Shadab, Kevon Cooper and captain Dwayne Bravo chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 159 to win, the Knight Riders lost Narine on the 10th ball of the innings, while Brendon McCullum and Darren Bravo fell shortly after.

Colin Munro was once again looking extremely dangerous, but his innings came to an end when he was on 36 as he was caught by Hasan Ali at cover point off the bowling of Samuel Badree.

Badree took out Shadab in his next over before Dwayne Bravo and Ramdin steadied the innings with a 41-run partnership.

Even though Bravo ended up being run out by Hasan for 20, Ramdin led the Knight Riders to victory with an unbeaten 59, which came off 35 balls and included two boundaries and four sixes.

Badree and Mohammad Nabi took two wickets apiece, while Carlos Brathwaite claimed one.
