Sri Lanka have named former South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Nic Pothas as their interim head coach following Graham Ford’s resignation.

On Saturday, Ford announced that he would be stepping down from the post even though his contract was supposed to run until the end of the 2019 World Cup.

Pothas, who has been Sri Lanka’s fielding coach since August last year, will coach the national team during their home series against Zimbabwe and India.

Sri Lanka will play five ODIs and a one-off Test against Zimbabwe, while their series against India will consist of three Tests, five ODIs and a lone Twenty20 International.

Before becoming Sri Lanka’s fielding coach, Pothas was Guernsey’s director of cricket and the academy director at Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
