The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unanimously voted elect Najam Sethi as the board’s next chairman.

Sethi, who is the chairman of the board’s Executive Committee, will replace Shaharyar Khan, whose term as chairman comes to an end in August.

The decision was one of three resolutions passed at the PCB’s Annual General Meeting in Lahore.

“The second resolution was adopted for a Pride of Performance award for Mr. Najam Sethi for his significant contribution in Pakistan’s cricket especially staging of PSL’s final in Lahore,” the PCB said via a press release.

As for the third resolution, it was in recognition and honour of Shaharyar’s services to Pakistan cricket.

In fact, all the members of the board gave Shaharyar a standing ovation after he chaired the Annual General Meeting for the last time.

During the meeting, Sethi announced that there are plans to hold eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Pakistan next year. Should it be given the green light, four matches will be held in Karachi, while four more will be held in Lahore.

He also expressed his desire to bring international cricket back to Pakistan. Since March 2009, Zimbabwe have been the only Full Member nation to tour Pakistan, doing so in May 2015.
