India have missed the April 25 deadline to submit their squad for the Champions Trophy, which will be held in England in June.

It is believed that India’s failure to confirm their squad for the tournament stems from the fact that all the necessary people were unable to meet.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Amitabh Choudhury and CEO Rahul Johri are attending International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings this week, while skipper Virat Kohli is currently involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he is in charge of the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.

“We have told the ICC the reason behind the delay,” a BCCI official told ESPNcricinfo. “We have told them we will announce it soon.”

However, there is also speculation that the BCCI could consider withdrawing from the Champions Trophy as their demands of retaining their share of revenue from the ICC has not been met.

But, the BCCI official insisted that it would be a difficult process for India to pull out of the competition.

“To pull out you have to revoke the MPA, which is a legal document,” the official said. “All the legal authority sits with the COA. The office bearers will need to consult the COA. You can make a threat, but you have to follow it up with a letter to become a reality. Then if the COA approves then it will direct Johri, who is the only one authorised to sign such a letter.”
