Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza will be suspended for the next ODI his team play in after he picked up his second over-rate offence in 12 months.
Bangladesh were found to be two overs short after time allowances were taken into consideration in the third ODI against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
With his last over-rate offence coming against New Zealand on Boxing Day, Mortaza will be unavailable for his side’s match against Ireland on May 12, which is part of an ODI tri-series involving New Zealand as well.
To make matters worse, Mortaza was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while the rest of his team-mates were docked 20 per cent apiece.
Bangladesh were beaten by 70 runs in the third ODI and the series subsequently finished as a 1-1 draw.
